By my estimation the left has duped us and controlled one battle well for years. That is what I call the "War on Words". Recently I heard a big flack about Bill O'Reilly calling murdered abortionist George Tiller: "Tiller the Baby Killer". Regardless of the evidence he submitted how could he say such a thing? Yet years ago the left thought nothing of calling returning Vietnam Vets "Baby Killers". Recently we have been told waterboarding is torture. Regardless of how the evidence we provide to the contrary the left has called it torture, so it must be. It is my guess I could go on with hundreds, if not thousands of examples like these. Why the sensitivity, why the concern? In my estimation the left knows they can't win a debate on its merits, so they will attempt to control speech. Frankly I get frustrated with the whole thing.
In looking at this we wonder why does the left not get upset based on principle. Why do they not get up and fight for our words being used as we mean them and theirs being used as they mean them. Frankly I believe it is because inherantly they know this is the only way they can win. What if we had a full scale debate on abortion. Logical not emotional shallow arguments. Look at what happened to O'Reilly. Like or dislike him, he is right on this issue. The left says he is responsible for the killing of George Tiller. This argument is so stupid I can't even see why we are debating it. Think about it. How can he be responsible. Did he pull the trigger? Of course not. The left attacks him in my opinion because he is onto something. A rational debate is their archenemy. So attacking him on all cylinders is the only response. I believe this is because they know if people start to listen to what he is saying, not soundbites, he will cream, them. The Liberal strategy, cut off debate at all cost.
This is why I believe engaging with Liberals on their forums is useless. They fire quick emotionally charged arguments lacking in substance, that is why they avoid them. This is why they want to ram through "Nationalized Healthcare" (another word game on their part "health care reform", the name insinuates the debate must happen). They realize any long term debate will kill their plan. The argument for it is flawed and can easily be won. I know this because I used to favor it and after listening to logical reasoned arguments I changed my mind.
It is my guess a book could even be written on this subject. (If it already has not been). This though is what we should be fighting. If we can show Americans how Liberals do this and try and control speech, we will pick up a major advantage.
